Leather handbags have always been in trend all around the world. Especially if the makers are quite popular and very well known the demand for the bags skyrocket. It is a fashion statement and is considered a luxury item. It is considered a luxury, but then there are collections that are not entirely genuine leather. People generally do not know that there is another set of leather which is of low quality in genuine leather. Again artificial leather is also available in the market, it is called faux leather. There is a danger of purchasing the duplicate one if the person making the purchase has no knowledge of which one is original and which one is duplicate.
There are a few types of leather:
- Faux leather is an important kind. As mentioned earlier, it is not a real type of leather but is commonly used to make handbags and other leather products. The leather products do look genuine and most of them prefer to these than genuine leather. Experienced people are able to identify the difference but then without much creases, the appearance of faux leather is excellent.
- Cowhide leather is another type of leather that is mainly concentrating on cow skin. A lot of things like furniture, luxury fashion items, and car seats are mainly made from cowhide leather.
- Lambskin leather is mainly used because of the softness of its skin. It is made mainly from sheep but has a very big disadvantage that it is easily torn hence not durable.
- Machine made leather is also famous. It is artificially created, if genuine is made from calfskin, and the faux with the wax finish is made from polyurethane. It is in the year 1913 the revolution was done helping Prada invent Saffiano leather.
